The Unemployment Insurance Appeals Process (FAQ)

If you think you were wrongly denied unemployment, you need to file a request for re-determination within 10 days of the denial. The notice telling you that you do not qualify will be sent via mail and will include directions as to how you can request a redetermination or appeal. It is important that you read every document you receive. Be sure to meet the timelines set forth in those documents.

While you are waiting to hear back, you should file payment requests while your claim is pending at MontanaWorks.gov. This will ensure that you can receive payments for the weeks while you were waiting for your unemployment benefit to be approved.
