Before You Start

A notice to vacate usually tells you something you did wrong and that you have so many days to fix whatever you did or move out.  For example, your landlord might give you a notice that says you have not paid rent and you have three days to pay or move out.   

You can download and fill out this free write-in-the-blank letter to tell your landlord that they sent you an Improper Notice to Vacate.  An improper notice is a notice that does not match what the law requires.  You can learn more about what the law requires in our article What is a Legal Notice to Vacate.  

Do not use this letter if: 

  • You own your mobile home and rent the lot it sits on, or 
  • You have been served with eviction court papers.
