Can MLSA take every case?
MLSA tries very hard to help each person who contacts us. We will do
whatever we can to help you, but we can only offer our full services to
people who meet our eligibility requirements.
Most of our legal services are available only for people with income at
or below 125% of the federal poverty level and very limited assets. You
must also be a U.S. citizen or eligible alien.
Sorry, we can't help with traffic violations or criminal law.
What happens if MLSA cannot take my case?
Callers may be referred to the State
Bar of Montana Lawyer Referral and Information Service or other
agencies for assistance. We will do our best to find you the help you
need.
Also, we recommend you try MontanaLawHelp.org.
You can find information about common legal problems, such as divorce,
parenting plans, landlord and tenant issues, and more. Also, MontanaLawHelp.org
has information about local legal help, community resources, and courts.
If you cannot find the information you need, click on the LiveHelp
picture in the upper right hand corner of your screen and ask for help
finding the information. If you still need help after you look at
MontanaLawHelp.org, contact the MLSA HelpLine at 1-800-666-6899.
