Do you know

that if you are at least 16 years old you can ask a court to emancipate you from your parents?

That means you can live on your own and take care of yourself. A court will only emancipate you if it is in your best interests. You must prove that you are responsible enough to live on your own. This includes being able to support yourself. You usually must stay in school. You must check in with the court on a regular basis. You might have to check in with an advisor. The court can take the emancipation away from you if it decides it is not in your best interests.
